Construction Project Manager in Stillwater, Oklahoma

Construction Project Manager Acts as liaison between architects, contractors, and university staff during the construction phases of projects on a variety of moderate to major projects, including the addition, alteration, renovation to existing buildings and the construction of new buildings to ensure that the University receives a contextual, safe, and efficient facility that is conducive to university needs, and fully meets the requirements as indicated with the construction documents. Position includes providing effective contract administration during the construction phase of each assigned project and assisting the end user during the transitional period from substantial completion of end of the warranty period. Construction Advisor to Design Team Works with outside firms and internal architectural and interior design staff to accomplish designs and studies. Communicates directly with clients/contractors/designers/technical professional concerning project constructability, costs, staffing and scheduling. May coordinate work of other professionals, technicians, and others who assist is project coordination. Project Coordinator Complete project coordination responsibilities for moderate to large projects. Salary additive provides for use of personal cell phone for departmental business. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Architectural Design, or related field and a minimum of five years' practical experience in managing construction for capital projects with a construction value in excess of $2 million, including additions, alterations, renovations, new construction, and pre-construction experience (e.g., system selection analysis and constructability reviews). Experience should include responsibility for management of both design and construction of moderate to large projects.  Requires a working knowledge of local codes and standards of design and commercial construction. Must possess knowledge of basic design and construction techniques, and materials. Must be knowledgeable in: Construction contract document preparation and administration; specification interpretation; construction budgeting and control; quality control; and a basic understanding of current federal, state, and local environmental rules, regulations, building codes, and labor laws and may be required to perform construction observations and/or inspections. Incumbent must function in a highly organized manner and possess high interpersonal skills. In-depth knowledge of cost estimating and project scheduling methods and must have good communication (oral and written) skills. Must have the ability to identify and implement creative solutions to problems in order to stay within budget and construction schedule guidelines.
